The 1.117 sq.m. Ballroom Hall in Crowne Plaza Athens Hotel was fully redesigned (2018) in order to cover the needs of a multi-functional space. Six halls of different sizes separated by movable fully soundproof panels located around a main hall-foyer flexible to be joined together if required and used either as a Congress or a Ballroom Hall.
The design concept lies behind the flexibility of an Origami structure: 15 triagles combined in different levels to form an origami-like ceiling in the central foyer.
The whole sculptural result points out the longitudinal geometry of the existing space and is aesthetically and architecturally transformed when different lighting is applied. Lighting design employed the principles of «tunable white» to give a natural-lighting feeling.
The project is scheduled to be completed by August 10th, 2018.
