Red Sky Bar – Psalidi, Kos island

A strong gesture transforming the dome to a red ring embracing the sky

The rooftop of Kipriotis Panorama hotel and suites in Psalidi, Kos was an empty area inside and out. Indoor space was left without any use apart from the small open space in front of the elevators’ landing and outdoor space was just for the air conditioning units and equipment. Right in the middle of the indoor space there was a dome. We proposed to exploit this area inside and out and built a rooftop bar. Our focal element was the dome itself. We designed a strong red ring around its perimeter and based our strategy around a Red Wine Bar. Red colour was combined to circular forms. We set the operational boundaries of the indoor space, proposed a bar leaving the vista unharmed and continued our proposal on the outdoor space. All piping was covered with a raised WPC floor, wooden partitions with rich vegetation to hide the air conditioning units and equipment and securit glazings for safety reasons. The Red Wine bar was thus developed as a 360 degree breathtaking vista place overlooking Psalidi Bay.

The project was design and constructed in 2010.
